For one press statement wey I.A. Oguzie sign on top Secretary to the State Government behalf, dem talk say the ban na because plenty people don complain say taskforce dey intimidate and collect money from dem by force.
Oguzie talk say the way taskforce dey do for public don dey make government look bad, na why dem decide to ban all taskforce wey dey operate for the state, especially for Owerri metropolis.
“His Excellency don approve am say make government warn anybody or any group wey dey claim say dem be taskforce under any name. Security people don get order to arrest anybody wey no obey. Anybody wey dem catch go face the law,” the statement talk.
Oguzie still add say the decision na to stop the way people dey do anyhow for the state and to make sure say people believe Governor Hope Uzodinma’s administration. E talk say the ban dey effective immediately.
The ban affect all taskforce wey dey under any Ministry, Department, or Agency (MDA) for the state. Oguzie explain say the move go help stop how different unregulated groups dey spring up, especially for transport sector and market area, wey dey disturb people and collect illegal money without state government approval.
Oguzie also use the opportunity tell people make dem take note and obey the new order.
One public analyst, Ugochukwu Eze, react say the state government decision make sense because taskforce don turn to wahala for the state, especially for transport and market places.
Eze talk say before, dem form taskforce to enforce regulation and maintain order, but now, dem don forget their original work, dey collect money by force and harass people.
